The Dark Side of the Internet Marketing Force
The new Star Wars movie is out. Did you ever stop and think why these movies have become such a huge success? Why do specific movies turn to a world-wide-culture event?
I believe that whenever something - a movie - a book - a song - becomes such a huge success it is because it is touching on subjects that are connected directly to our subconscious mind, directly to our soul.
There are basic “Truths” in this existence… some that we are aware of and some that we are not. But whenever a movies like Star Wars or the Matrix or a book like Conversations with God arrives… it touches you in places that you’re not aware of.
So what is Star Wars about - simply put, it is the battle between Good and Bad.
The rules are simple:
1. Everything in life has 2 sides to it the Good and the Bad, Light and Darkness, 2 sides that connect directly to our 2 basic feelings Love and Fear.
Almost all our good qualities come out of a feeling of love to something or someone - kindness, generosity, the desire to help…
Almost all our bad qualities come from the fear in our lives:
hate & racism- Fearing what is not you
jealousy - Fearing “lack of self-value and worth”
being cheap - Fearing the loss of what you have.
2. Choosing the Bad side gives us almost immediate gratification but has a long term cost which is the decaying of our soul… or in simple terms lack of pure joy in life… lack of light.
So how does this relate to our business?
With Email came new and amazing ways for people to communicate but also came Junk Mail and Spam.
With Blogs came an amazing new ways for people to publish their thoughts, express themselves and build a small community of shared interest - but along came the leeches and also came comment spam, automatic blogging and pinging of junk etc.
Search Engines are good we all know why … SEO site spam, cloaking and smart pages are the other side.
Adwords Vs. click Fraud.
Adsense Vs. click Fraud.
Affiliate programs and people stealing your commission with cookie theft.
Everything has 2 sides.
So how can you know where you belong - on any subject in life you can just ask yourself…
Am I adding value here?
Am I giving something away?
or…
Am I here just to take, to exploit, to gain immediate gratification?
So many forum threads are filled with people’s stories about how their junk sites are bringing in 4 figures daily from Adsense alone. About using Adwords and Adsense Click Fraud for immediate personal gain.
As I am exposed to these methods the battle grows strong withing my heart as well.
Should I use GoogSpy to copy other peoples adwords campaign word for word and steal their profits?
Should I spam a wonderful free service like blogger to have my sites indexed faster?
Should I promote products the best products or the ones that bring me the most money?
I don’t understand how someone can be truly happy being a leech. Even if you earn a quick buck… don’t you care that you are ruining other people’s work?
It might be a longer ride… but I hope that I will earn my money adding value and service to others and not by learning the latest technological loop hole that enables me to get easy money.
