Money Making Plans and Updates
It’s been a while since the last update… and there are a lot of things I want to say so this might be a longer post - so hang on…
Our challenge was mentioned on blogs like Problogger and WorkBoxers which has brought a lot of traffic and a lot of questions to be answered.
When you start from scratch - PPC+Affiliate Programs is the fastest way to make money online.
This is why for this challenge I’ve been planning on using PPC to earn at least 75% of the needed income.
The thing is - relying on PPC for your family’s income is a little bit dangerous.
There are too many parameters that can change overnight:
- Google and Overture’s advertising policies
- The affiliate program policies
- Click Fraud Problems
- Competition from ignorant webmasters willing to outbid you at any price
…
This is why I do not consider PPC to be a source of 100% passive income.
Running successful PPC campaigns is a lot of work that never really ends. You always have to track your results to make sure you’re not losing money because something have changed.
It’s always interesting to watch people on forums alerting each other when they think Clickbank is down - this is not the life I’m dreaming of. Having to worry every hour weather someone is tracking my commissions or not.
Oh! one more thing about PPC - It costs money 
! You need to be able to spend some money in the initial stages of setting up your campaign as well as having enough money to spend on your daily advertising…
So as I’ve mentioned PPC is going to be used for this challenge, because it is the fastest way I can think of, but I’m not going to let my income rely solely on PPC.
This is where Blogs Content Sites, organic SE traffic and Adsense come in…
After earning a nice income from PPC campaigns… I will hopefully be able to quit my day job and will hopefully have the time for the 2nd stage of my online career and that is building what John Reese is calling my VRE empire - my Virtual Real Estate Empire.
More and more “Regular People” are discovering PPC and specifically Adwords as the place to advertise, and smart people will know how to use this opportunity to earn a nice income online.
Attract free SE traffic to your site ->
Offer these nice people valuable content -> and ->
send them on their way with Adsense ads (and/or Affiliate links).
Once you build an attractive SE site. You don’t have to track it daily. Hosting a site these days is cheap! ANY money that it brings you will be a nice addition to your monthly income.
The trick here is not putting all your eggs in just 1 basket. If one site falls in the SERPS you have 20 other sites that keep bringing you income while you’re busy adding and building more sites.
This is why in this challenge I’ve started building content sites as well. Actually it is a blog-like content site, but the platform really is not the main issue here.
This is a long term project which will hopefully bring in profits within 3 months. (Actually I’m already making around $0.5 a day from this site). At the moment my site is sandboxed by Google and I know it will take a few weeks for it to be released and for the results to hopefully come in.
The downside of building content sites is the time it takes to see the results, and the complete dependency you have on the Search Engines. (Yes yes… I have an issue with depending on others).
One algorithm change and your site’s income drops.
So this is where having your own product comes in…
But it’s late here and I have to get up to work tomorrow… so I guess I’ll continue later.
